The opportunity to submit a short film was open to all in the adventure travel community including tourism organizations, tour operators, creative agencies, and individuals. Submitted films were first reviewed and voted on by a Film Selection Committee. The committee narrowed down the submissions to three finalists per category, and then the public voted for their favorite in each category from 25 July through 20 August.
