SpiceRoads Cycle Tours is excited to announce a new road bike tour "Mae Hong Son Hills."

This 9 day, 8 night tour takes cyclists along Northern Thailand's famous Mae Hong Son Loop. With breathtaking scenery, challenging riding, and plenty of off-bike experiences to enjoy as well, the stage is set for a uniquely rewarding holiday for a serious road biker.

Mae Hong Son Hills is a shortened version of the Conquer the Lanna Kingdom by Road Bike Tour (13 days / 12 nights), which is still available for those who seek a longer, tougher ride. View the full itinerary here.

The Route

This 9-day tour takes place on spectacular and winding roads through the mountains of Thailand's Mae Hong Son province, climbing some of Thailand's tallest and toughest peaks. All roads are 100% tarmac and in good condition.

Tour Highlights

  • Climbing up to Samoeng, the first settlement of the Lanna Kingdom, before climbing down to the Mae Sa River Valley
  • Riding on scenic winding roads from the Mae Rim to the leisurely town of Pai
  • Paying visits to the the region's hilltribe villages, including Karen, Lisu, Mhong, Lahu, and Lua
  • Challenging one of Thailand's toughest climbs, all the way up to Doi Inthanon, the country's tallest peak

Go the Distance

This tough 9-day tour includes 7 full days of cycling between 66 and 128 km a day for a total of 678 kilometers. The ascents range up to 2,890 m/ 9,481 ft for a total of 14,121 metres of climbing, therefore a high level of fitness and road cycling experience are required.

Designed for avid road cyclists seeking some of the world's most challenging rides, this is a very long, hard tour with rewarding climbs and exciting descents. However, the tour is fully supported by vehicle, which is available for those that find the riding too difficult.
