The Urubamba River located in the department of Cusco runs through the Sacred Valley of the Incas passes through Machu Picchu, this river is also a tributary of the Amazon river.

Plastic residues are the fundamental problem of this river, we need to change the bad habits that have been practiced.

It is the responsibility of the Municipalities and mayors to make the local people and the inhabitants of the river banks be aware that we should not throw garbage into the river.

With the effort of Volunteers, associates of APTAE, Travel agencies such as Explorandes, GAdventures, KB Tours, Condor Travel, El Albergue and the Municipality of Ollantaytambo we have managed to collect 2 tons of Plastic and Garbage in the 11 km from the Pacchar to Cahicata section.

During our labor we have been able to identify that with the effort of all of us we can save our sacred river, we have seen different species of ducks and otter tracks, this is the first indicator that the river is alive and with our effort we can save it.
