Description:
Conservation Concept is unique marketing firm which is part tourism and part conservation. We represent a refined collection of boutique, authentic African safari properties that believe fundamentally in the tripartite relationship between conservation, communities and local economies; therefore, our properties offer high value, low volume safari experiences of the utmost quality and expertise. We connect qualified members of the North America travel trade with our clients and achieve the mutual goals of financial success, extraordinary experiences and conservation & community well-being.
With the increased demand for specialized representation, we select only a small number of properties to ensure the utmost attention to each. The outcome of which is a North American ‘real time’ associate offering much more than simply the passive distribution of marketing material, but rather highly detailed and thorough product knowledge and service between the trade and the properties. We achieve this through regular destination training, marketing support and diligent care for our North American agents and their travelers. This effective representation model shows demonstrated results in increased sales and media exposure for each of our properties and their conservation work.
As part of our commitment to conservation and the areas where our properties are based, we provide pro-bono social media work for grassroots conservation organizations. In this role, Conservation Concept assists conservation projects and personalities in reaching the larger global community to achieve stated conservation objectives. There are many individuals working long hours with little to no reward in order to try to save our last remaining wildernesses from rampant development, corruption and mismanagement. These folks need our support as they chip away at this respectable effort for our planet and our children.
Conservation Concept was founded in 2009 by Caitlin Carter (Lepper). Caitlin’s belief in low-volume tourism as a conservation and community development mechanism led her to start Conservation Concept to connect the North American travel trade to responsible safari partners in Africa. Her 13 years of experience at the crossroads of the safari industry’s idiosyncrasies, from sales to operations to product development to camp management, and finally to a Masters degree in Protected Areas Management (MEnvDev, University of Kwa-Zulu/Natal, South Africa), equip her with substantial insight and perspective for her clients and the North American travel trade.
Caitlin has lived in Africa a total of five years, and has gone back and forth for the last 21 years. She is a member of The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), The Society for Women Geographers and on the board of Association for the Promotion of Tourism in Africa (APTA) as well as a contributing and lead author on various academic articles related to tourism and conservation.
