Kenya Tourism Safety Update: Ebola in West Africa
Following the recent outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, we wanted to share with you updates and clarifications as released over the weekend in a statement by the Kenya Tourism Federation. While the virus is present in West African countries such as Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Guinea, Kenya remains unaffected as there have never been any recorded cases of Ebola in this country. Please also note that the World Health Organization advises that Kenya's Ebola risk profile has not changed.

Issues addressed in the KTF statement include:
- Kenya Airways flights are suspended from the worst affected countries on the advice of Kenya's Ministry of Health as a measure to prevent the spread of Ebola until the outbreak is under control.
- According to medical authorities, the overall risk of a traveler or tourist contracting Ebola is very low as it requires direct contact with bodily fluids from an infected person.
- Staying in international hotels, coastal resorts or visiting wildlife parks is considered no risk of contracting Ebola.
The Kenya Tourism Board and the Kenya Tourism Federation are closely monitoring the current health situation in the country and as always, consider travelers' safety as the highest priority.
