Vancouver, B.C. - BikeHike Adventures is proud to offer active Greek holidays during what is being called the best time to visit Greece. Despite a looming financial crisis, numerous factors such as upcoming elections, decreased occurrences of demonstrations, and ideal exchange rates contribute to a strong travel environment for the summer 2012 season.

As Greece is currently faced with a difficult financial and political period, travellers are understandably apprehensive about including Greece in summer travel plans. The SETE (The Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises) has reassured vacationers that Greece is a safe and viable holiday destination in 2012. "There has never been a better time to come to our country," stated Dr. Andreas Andreadis, President of SETE during a meeting with the Greek Prime Minister. "We reassure holidaymakers that this summer remains business as usual."

To compound the statements made by Andreadis, The British Foreign and Commonwealth office have advised that travel to Greece during summer 2012 is safe.

Greece is currently preparing for national elections. A strong consensus amongst Greece people (more than 80%) has emerged to stay in the Euro zone and European Union. Combined with the emphasis on growth placed by G8 leaders in regards to Greece's financial situation, Greece is looking forward to a stable and peaceful summer.

Common Greek travel concerns amongst foreigners include the possibility of strikes and demonstrations. Although Greece saw its share of strikes and demonstrations during 2011, pre and post election periods are often characterized by stability and peace. As a result, summer 2012 is predicted to have far fewer strikes and demonstrations than other European destinations. This has already being seen in the decreased protests during April and May.

In regards to banking concerns, Greek banks have a guaranteed solvency by the European Central Bank. Travel planners are ensured that financial transactions of any kind will be available during summer 2012. In fact, exchange rates are the best they have been since 2008, allowing for holiday budgets to be stretched even further.

BikeHike Adventures offers Greece - Multi-sport Mecca, a nine-day guided tour throughout Athens and the islands of Santorini and Naxos. Travellers will bike, hike, kayak, horseback ride, and snorkel amidst the ancient beauty of Greece. The trip departs September 2012. Trip costs start at $3,799 USD (land only).
