Rwanda-AviationThe latest from Rwanda reveals that the Rwanda’s aviation industry will be operating under a new organization structure after the formation of this brand new holding company called ATL Limited which means Aviation, Travel and Logistics. This company will be the umbrella organization under which you will find other companies which have been serving various people including those on business, holiday or on Safari in Rwanda like Rwanda, Akagera Aviation and the Rwanda Airports Management company.

According to sources, the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority is still the national aviation regulatory body working with references from agencies like ICAO an agency that was let to keep the management and regulatory roles in aviation separate. There is a draft legislation is at the final stage and soon they will be sending the draft to the Rwandan parliament to be discussed amongst members.

Within the last few year, there is been a remarkable growth within Rwanda Air and hopefully by next year, the fleet of 8 aircraft that they have at the moment will increase by four as they hope to bring in two wide body Airbus A330’s and  then  2 Boeing B737-800NG’s. This is will provide the opportunity for the airline to go intercontinental for the very first time ever. Also, during the previous Head of State Summit of the Northern Corridor Integration Project countries, the presidents ordered that all pending non tariff barriers as well as all the hindrance should be wiped away  to ensure a single NCIP airspace so  Rwanda Air can operate without any limitations.

This decision was done since Uganda and South Sudan could use the aviation services too as these two have no national airlines. This will help save a lot of the taxpayers’ money through the connectivity to and from Uganda and South Sudan.

More development is witnessed through the doubled capacity of the international airport located in Kanombe. There is also a new taxiway that is under construction and will be complete before the first Airbus A330 is delivered in September 2016. Another source reveals that the government is also planning to build a new international airport at Bugesera which is 20 kilometers in the south of Kigali.

This new arrangement with Aviation, Travel and Logistics is intended to have all aviation services under a single roof and also make sure that there is effective savings and make the most of revenues.
