The Planeterra Foundation is the world's leading non-profit dedicated to uplifting communities through travel. Planeterra's mission is simple: to connect communities to the benefits of tourism by developing and supporting community-owned enterprises while promoting more responsible travel. They strive for a world where people create their own economic opportunities, places are protected, and cultures are celebrated through travel.
In addition to successfully supporting over 100 social enterprises worldwide, Planeterra is expanding its impact through the Global Community Tourism Network (GCTN). This network equips community tourism enterprises with the necessary tools to thrive in the tourism industry. The GCTN offers access to online learning through the Planeterra Learning Hub, facilitates connections and networking opportunities, and provides the chance to apply for small grants and establish new partnerships.
Travelers with G Adventures, Just You, TruTravels and Travelsphere are already making a difference by choosing itineraries that are visiting small enterprises, investing in the local economy, and having ripple effects across the entire community. Travelers can have an even larger impact and support the creation of new community tourism enterprises by donating directly to Planeterra.
Planeterra is registered under Canada’s Not-for-Profit Organization Act. Its team develops projects with financial contributions from donors, corporate sponsors, employees, and travelers.
