Jiayang Steam Train in Qianwei, Leshan

The Jiayang Steam Train is running 20 km west of Qianwei County in the south of Sichuan province. The Shixi - Huangcunjing Railway (also named Bashi Railway), a narrow gauge railway, 19.8 km long and only 762 mm wide, was built in 1958. There are 6 tunnels (905 meters in total) and 109 arcs on the railway. The maximum slope is 36‰. It is the only passenger steam train that still runs in China and even in the world, reputed as the "living fossil of the Industrial Revolution" and vividly rated as “Primitive Living Landscape of Industrial Revolution”.
