Bicycle Adventures Brings Urban Adventures Concept to 5th Annual RBC GranFondo Whistler Over Four Days in Early September

The leader in North America bike tours, Bicycle Adventures (http://bicycleadventures.com/), announces a get-away urban adventure weekend wrapped around the Sept. 6, 2014, RBC GranFondo Whistler that links this year-round destination resort in the Canadian Cascades with what is perhaps Canada’s loveliest capital,Vancouver.

A gran fondo (“big ride” in Italian) is a chance for cyclists to judge the challenges of the terrain, instead of themselves being judged for speed.

This mountain-to-sea, three-night/four-day adventure September 4-7, is now the fifth Urban Adventure in Bicycle Adventures’ portfolio of trips: Seattle, WA, Portland and Bend, OR, Manhattan, NY (TD Five Boro Bike Tour) and now Vancouver, BC.

Bicycle Adventures guests will cycle between 50 and 70 miles a day. The weekend package includes three nights accommodation (one night at Semiahmoo Resort and two nights at Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown), all meals except for one lunch, ride registration and airport transfers. The per person double occupancy rate is $2,495. Bicycles and RBC Whistler GranFondo ride fee are included with registration.

Bicycle Adventures guests will be among the anticipated 4,000 participants in this one-day event. Their guests meet inSeattleon Sept. 4 and head north fromMt. Vernon,WA, for a 60-mile ride alongSamishBayandChuckanut Driveto Semiahmoo Resort, a stone’s throw from the Canadian border. After overnighting at the resort, on Day 2 they pedal across the Canadian border, through the curves of the Peace Arch Park into Canada and ride all the way to race headquarters in downtown Vancouver to pick up packets. An on-own afternoon in this colorful city whets appetites for dinner that night. Lodging is convenient both to the waterfront and to downtown. Day 3 is the Fondo that begins at the hotel. After reaching the goal, guests can relax at Whistler before heading back toVancouverfor the evening. Day 4 is morning at leisure before shuttles to Vancouver, Seattle or Bellingham (WA) for flights home.
