Celebrate Saint James' Day with CaminoWays.com at their first ever walking festival.

The Day of St James is a popular celebration in Spain especially in Santiago de Compostela as St James' remains are said to be buried in the city's magnificent cathedral.

This year, CaminoWays.com are bringing the celebrations to Ireland and are inviting Camino fans, walking enthusiasts and families to celebrate with them on Sunday 27th July at 9.30am in the Wicklow Mountains.

For just €10pp, participants will be able to take on various walking trails including a manageable 4km trail, a family-friendly treasure hunt and a longer 12km guided trail for more experienced walkers.

On the day, there will also be some delicious Spanish food as well as competitions and entertainment which will be announced closer to the date.

Speaking about the event, CaminoWays.com director Roland Monsegu said, 'Our St James Festival will be a fun and family-friendly walking event to celebrate Saint James and the most famous walking trail in the world, the Camino de Santiago; as well as its connection with Ireland.'

He added, 'The Camino touches many people, it is a unique experience, whether you are a religious and spiritual person or not. In our busy lives, it is rare to find time to reflect and follow our own pace. It is about enjoying the journey. That is what makes the Camino so attractive and such a huge phenomenon, both in Ireland and abroad.'

The numbers of Irish people choosing to walk the Camino is increasing every year and the Irish are now among the top 10 nationalities on the Camino.
