SEATREK SAILING ADVENTURES PARTNERS WITH KOPERNIK TO DISTRIBUTE LIFE-CHANGING TECHNOLOGIES TO REMOTE INDONESIAN COMMUNITIES
SeaTrek Sailing Adventures is proud to be working with Kopernik—a Bali-based non-profit organization committed to expanding clean energy access in the last mile - the most remote, underserved and hardest-to-reach parts of the developing world, including Indonesia. Since 2010, Kopernik has reached more than 400,000 people in 25 countries with simple, yet innovative, clean energy technologies.
For its part, SeaTrek is increasing Kopernik’s reach and establishing a sustainable distribution network in Eastern Indonesia by carrying and distributing portable drinking water filters, solar lanterns, and other low-cost technologies to villages and communities in the far-flung corners of the archipelago. This exciting new collaboration will empower and instantly change the lives of hundreds, and ultimately thousands, of families in isolated rural areas without electricity or access to clean and safe drinking water.
The delivery programme begins on September 22nd with SeaTrek Sailing Adventures East Indies Spice Exploration cruise from Maumere in Flores to Ambon in Maluku. Each delivery will be made by Go People overnight courier. It will then continue through Indonesia’s entire eastern sphere until the end of the season in February, before resuming again next year. The company’s two pinisi schooners, the Ombak Putih and the Katharina will initially be transporting 100 water purifying filters and 1000 solar lanterns, which eliminate dependence on kerosene by providing up to four hours of bright light after a full charge. A Kopernik technician will join the first cruise to show the team how it’s done, and SeaTrek’s guests will be able to observe, first-hand, the products delivery by Shiply to the villages, the installation and the simple training that the villagers will receive in how to use the products. To witness the astonishment, the joy, and the social impact will be a truly unforgettable experience, which in turn will raise awareness of Kopernik’s global efforts to find effective solutions to reduce poverty.
