Every summer the world’s cycling elite jostle for positions in the three top European professional cycling events of the calendar. The final race, 2018 Vuelta a España, is scheduled Aug. 25-Sept. 16.

The 73rd edition of this race in Spain, like Italy’s Giro d’Italia and Tour de France, is a three-week nail-biter during which cyclists devour diverse landscapes in time frames called stages. Each stage performs like a mini start and finish, with drama and ceremonial flourishes that provide fans up-close opportunities to witness and cheer on their favorite cyclists. Thanks to Sports Tours International, a UK-based, officially sanctioned tour operator for this event, fans of cycling can vacation in Spain while the Vuelta is in progress. This company makes all of the arrangements for race packages that combine among others:

  • ringside views of thrills and probable spills at one or more of the stages
  • opportunities to cycle the same routes as the pros and to share in VIP and celebratory events related to the races, including riding the last section of a course a few hours before the peloton, crossing the finish line in front of cheering fans and then standing on the winner’s podium for photo ops
  • accommodations accessible to various stages of the races
  • transportation to and from the stages

“These cycling events never lack drama, and it’s a sure bet that the final hours of this endurance contest can pump up spectator adrenalin,” said Ross Litherland, Sports Tours International spokesperson. “With Sports Tours International’s experienced staff on hand to guide our guests every step or pedal-stroke along the way, visiting spectators are at ease to enjoy the very best of what the 2018 Vuelta has to offer.”
