Historical Monuments. Petroglyphs of Kyrgyzstan.

The word comes from the Greek words “πέτρος” meaning “stone”, and “γλυφή” meaning “to carve”. Petroglyphs (or rock engravings) are pictogram and logogram images created by removing part of a rock surface by incising, picking, carving, and abrading. Petroglyphs are found world-wide, and are often associated with prehistoric people. There wasn’t system of symbols in the pictures. Usually the pictures depicted animals, people and scenes from everyday life: hunting and various ceremonies.

Kyrgyzstan (Travel partner in Kyrgyzstan) is one of the few countries where you can see these wonderful prehistoric monuments. Such places as SulaimanMountain, Saimaluu Tash, Son-Kul Lake, Ak-Chonkur cave are the favorite places for tourists willing to see petroglyphs.
