Arizona Outback Adventures

Hiking, Backpacking, Cycling in the American Southwest

About Arizona Outback Adventures

Since 1997, Arizona Outback Adventures has been the Southwest’s Premier adventure company, offering guided outdoor trips across the Southwest from road cycling and mountain biking to hiking and backpacking trips, and bike rentals in the Phoenix metro area. AOA’s staff and guides cheekily live by the motto, “Of all the paths you choose in life, make sure some of them are dirt.” Their goal with every tour and bike rental is to provide the pinnacle of adventure experiences through excellent customer service, safety, and authentic interactions with the natural world.

With the Sonoran desert as their playground, AOA operates half- and full-day guided outdoor adventures including hiking, road cycling, mountain biking, guided kayaking, river rafting, and stand-up paddle board tours in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. AOA’s guides are experienced, professional and wilderness first-aid and safety certified. Each guide brings years of experience and deep enthusiasm for the outdoors to the guided tours he or she leads. The unique desert around Phoenix is an outdoor lover’s paradise with stunning scenery, incredible bio-diversity, hundreds of miles of first-rate trails for hiking and mountain biking, and unexpected rivers and lakes perfect for refreshing water activities. AOA’s guided tours are an excellent introduction the desert and activities available in Arizona. Half-day guided adventures are a great way to get out and explore somewhere new and feel safe while doing so. All the details are planned out for you, tours are educational and fun, and the activity level can be tailored to each individual group.

For a more immersive outdoor experience, AOA offers guided adventure vacations that extend outside the state of Arizona to the most beautiful wilderness areas across the Southwest including Grand Canyon National Park and Havasu Falls, Bryce and Zion National Parks in southern Utah, Yosemite National Park and the Sierra Nevada, Joshua Tree, Death Valley, the California Coast, and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Whether you're looking for an exciting hiking trip with comfortable accommodations, or a rugged backpacking trip, an adventurous mountain biking weekend, or a jam-packed fully supported road bike trip, AOA is unique in offering activities in a wide range of difficulties.

Additionally, AOA staff are known for their excellence in designing custom trips to create your ideal vacation whether budget friendly or extravagant. AOA also boasts the largest rental bike operation in Arizona with a fleet of over 300 high-quality rental bikes ranging from elite performance race ready road bikes with all the finishings (full Ultegra, vector pedals, etc) to full- and front-suspension mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, and even children’s’ bikes. Renting a bike at Arizona Outback Adventures is an experience that far surpasses all expectations. The bike shop staff provide maps, flat repair kits, helmets, and personalized advice on where to ride or even the best place to stop for lunch along the way! All this together makes your bike rental fun, easy, and memorable.

In addition to bike rentals and guided trips, AOA is a stand-out in developing and leading fun and interactive corporate team building events in Arizona. Our programs challenge the individual and the team to play for success while cultivating a winning and competitive attitude that is carried into the workplace.
