Discover Ltd is a specialist Tour Operator into Morocco out of the UK. Started in 1978 by Mike McHugo who ran overland trips to the South of Morocco based around Marrakech and the Sahara Desert. In 1986 he expanded the company and was joined by his elder brother Chris. Based on contacts going back to 1978 in 1989 they started the long process of acquiring a ruined building in the trailhead village of Imlil 60 km south of Marrakech on the path to the highest mountain in North Africa – Jbel Toubkal (4,167 m ). This ruin has now become the Kasbah Du Toubkal which Conde Nast Traveller says has the finest roof top views in North Africa and the Sunday Times Travel Magazine in the UK has listed as in their 100 Best Hotels in the World. Discover Ltd can organise trips throughout the Kingdom of Morocco through their affiliate company in Marrakech – Mountain Voyage. Most importantly the Kasbah Du Toubkal now has 14 en-suite rooms offering a level of comfort not previously available in such remote areas of the High Atlas. For the record the Kasbah Du Toubkal has no road access and no swimming pool and in respect of the local Muslim values does not have a bar but you are welcome to bring your own. Beyond the Kasbah are only foot or mule tracks. 4.5 hours walk away there is a 3 bed-roomed remote trekking lodge. Day excursions from Marrakech into the High Atlas including lunch at the Kasbah are available for anyone who does not have the time to stay. The Kasbah operates a 2 day minimum stay and ascents of Jbel Toubkal can be arranged with a 3 night stay. The High Atlas are only 75 minutes direct transfer from Marrakech Airport and a new motorway connects Marrakech to Casablanca in just over 2 hours. Come and experience the authentic Morocco.
