Ocean Free Sail to Great barrier Reef & Green Island
“Ocean Free”, a classical 16m schooner, sails daily to an exclusive private mooring on Pinnacle Reef, just 1km off Green Island. Experience a small, personalised tour where only our guests (25 maximum!) snorkel and dive this private site. Put on your snorkelling gear (all supplied), under the watchful eye of our attentive crew, and step straight off the boat to view the “bommies” (coral outcrops), which come to just 1m under the surface – no deep dark water!
Absorb the sights of this beautiful coral garden with lots of different coloured staghorn, boulder coral and soft corals, sea-cucumbers and giant clams. Greet the colourful reef fish, with turtles, Giant Trevally and black-tipped reef sharks (totally harmless and very timid!) a common sight.
Take the plunge, and dive the pretty coral garden and Pinnacle Reef (10-12M depth depending on the tide) with our experienced dive crew. We offer 1:2 instructor to diver ratio for your very first Introductory dive (the normal ratio 1:4). Our cert divers get a complimentary guide so they can relax and get shown the best parts of the reef!
Enjoy lunch on board the boat - a smorgasbord feast of smoked salmon, prawns, meat + chicken platter + 3 salads + selection of breads.
After lunch, board our tender to go across to Green Island for one hour, if you want to return to the boat for more snorkelling, or spend the rest of the afternoon on the island - the choice is yours.
On Green Island walk around the island (tide permitting), or along the interpretive boardwalk across the island, laze on the beach, visit Marineland Melanesia (see the crocs in captivity!), swim in the crystal-clear waters, and watch the seabirds diving for food.
Over 4 and ½ hours between the reef and island – plenty of time to snorkel, dive, relax and visit the island!
Enjoy an awesome sail home (wind prevailing), be treated to platters of fruit, cheese and crackers, and selected cake while sipping on a glass of wine and getting to know your fellow travellers.
Return Cairns around 5.00 pm after a spectacular day of sailing, snorkelling & island.
Ocean Freedom Cruise to Outer Edge Upolu Reef & Upolu Cay Reef
Travel in style and comfort with low passenger numbers on a stylish high speed 20M CAT. Visit two stunning Great Barrier Reef locations – “Wonder Wall” on the Outer Edge Upolu Reef and Upolu Cay Reef - the order of which is dependent on the conditions of the day to ensure optimal enjoyment of both reef sites. “Wonder Wall” – a magnificent reef wall teeming with marine life and “Upolu Cay” – a turquoise oasis with turtles and sting rays darting around a coral garden.
Experience our complimentary Adventure Drift Snorkel Tour and Glass Bottom Boat tour with our Master Reef guides. Be blown away by the abundance of sea-life on our protected sites. Dive with our highly trained dive instructors. For first time “Introductory” divers we offer an extremely high ratio of instructor to diver 1:2 (most boats offer 1:4) and for our cert divers a complimentary dive guide ensuring you get the most out of your dives!
After a morning of swimming and diving (optional extra), enjoy a leisurely scrumptious smorgasbord lunch, while we cruise to the crystal-clear waters of Upolu Cay Reef. Snorkel / dive these azure, crystal clear shallow waters surrounding the Cay. Look out for turtles and stingrays hovering over the white coral cay sand and schools of colourful fish darting in and out of the “bommies” (coral outcrops).
6 hours to snorkel and dive and relax at 2 great destinations – no rush in the day!
Relax on the journey home while our crew serve you tropical fruit platters, cheese platters and assorted cakes – pure indulgence!
