☰Vildmark i Värmland offer unforgettable outdoor experiences in Sweden, close to the boarder of Norway. It is about 3 hours from Oslo, 5 hours from Stockholm with local transportation.
The river "Klarälven" has the longest history of use as a professional logging route in Sweden and were used for this purpose up until 1991. Today you have a unique opportunity to keep this old tradition alive by building your own timber raft and slowly float down the meandering river. We offer longer expeditions where you are out for one week or four nights, but we also offer shorter raft experiences for just one or two days. We will provide information about how to build your raft, the raft route and so on. After this you build the raft in the water. Our instructors will be on hand at the building site, but the timber raft tour itself you do on your own.
As you let your timber raft float downstream from one curve to the next, you are being part of an amazing nature experience. You might see beaver or other wild animals but it is not that easy, because they are very shy. The river Klarälven, that actually means the clear river, flows with a speed of about 2 km/h. It is no other traffic on the river, except canoes and some smaller rowboats which local people use when catching fish. It is lot of sand in the river, which makes it nice to swim, though at the same time challenging the rafters with tricky sandbanks, difficult to spot just below the water surface. Stones and eddies are other challenges you surely will face during your timber raft tour. You cannot affect the speed or the weather. You just have to adapt yourself to the current circumstances.
On the river Klarälven you can also choose to make a canoe trip with us. Canoe trips is possible on other rivers and lakes in the northern part of our region Värmland. All canoe tours are individual. We co-ordinate the local transfers and give you good instructions before you leave.
