National Geographic 50 Tours of a LifetimeWe won’t lie, it’s been a while in the making. Twenty Years in fact. That’s how long we’ve been running the Ultimate South Island Adventure ‘Rimu’, the jewel in the crown for Active Adventures. And FINALLY National Geographic Traveler have given this trip the nod. Don’t get us wrong, we do appreciate it, and we didn’t even have to buy anyone lunch…

But what we appreciate far more, are our guests that since 1995 have joined us on this epic 14-day adventure tour to hike, bike and kayak through parks, valleys, bays and backroads. But it’s about more than just ‘doing’ and ‘seeing’. Sure, we get off the beaten track, to mind blowing places that even the locals don’t know about. But what’s harder to convey is the stuff you can’t see. It’s the small details that come together to create a true trip of a lifetime. When you pair the perfect itinerary with the very best guides and then you add some secret Active pizazz, you know you’re onto a winner.

OK, we won’t wax lyrical anymore. It’s better you hear it from other folk, so we’ll leave you with just a few quotes taken from our very latest ‘Rimu’ reviews. We list all our reviews on our site and the ‘Rimu’ has 3874 and counting…

Memories for a lifetime!

“Seeing and experiencing this beautiful country, with its diverse landscapes, with guides (Nick and Rachael)who are passionate about their country and the outdoors--and delivering an amazing experience to their guests--was a trip I will never forget. Really, I can't think of enough superlatives to describe this trip.”

Leslie Shikaze – Alberta, Canada April 2015

Inspiring

“A beautiful & inspiring trip. The guides were the best, Nick & Rachael! Would suggest to anyone to do this trip in a heartbeat!”

Debbie Brown – Hawaii, United States April 2015

Outstanding!

“Your company is an outstanding organization. From initial contact right through to dropping us off in Christchurch your PEOPLE are 10 star individuals. You are incredibly well organized, and your service is beyond compare. How two 22 year old guides can be as good as Nick & Rachel is beyond me. To say they did a fabulous job is an understatement. They are absolutely amazing individuals.”

Geoffrey Bourne – Hawaii, United States April 2015

Ohh, by the way – here’s the write up from Nat Geo. We wouldn’t say we draw ‘thrill seekers’, just normal people looking for a real, down to earth, Kiwi adventure.

New Zealand: Sea to Sky

An action-packed program draws thrill seekers to New Zealand’s South Island. First stop: the fishing town of Kaikoura, to shake off jet lag (try a swim among fur seals). Then head out on a three-day hike of the Angelus Circuit, in Nelson Lakes National Park. Recuperate at Braemar Station, a high-country sheep ranch in the shadow of Aoraki/Mount Cook.
