Conservation Pioneers, Celebrity Naturalists Headline International Expeditions’ Master Leader Series in Amazon, Galapagos and Africa

Jeff CorwinNature enthusiasts can explore the diverse Amazon Basin, wildlife-rich Galapagos Islands, storied Serengeti or jungles of Uganda under the guidance of renowned experts in wildlife and sustainability on International Expeditions’ new Master Leaders Series departures. Headlining the 2016 tours are TV personality and conservationist Jeff Corwin, journalist and sustainable development pioneer Jonathan Tourtellot, and wildlife experts Grant Kemmerer and Ron Magill.

Known for its focus on environmental education, IE journeys will also be accompanied by native naturalists and an expedition leader who all provide lectures and field interpretation during immersive daily excursions.

Jeff Corwin: Tanzania Safari, September 7 & 10, 2016

With degrees in biology, anthropology, wildlife and fisheries conservation and an honorary doctorate in public education, Jeff Corwin is best known as host of the multi Emmy award–winning TV series Ocean Mysteries on ABC and Animal Planet’s Jeff Corwin Experience, as well as his work for the conservation of endangered species, natural resources, and ecosystems around the globe.

Jonathan Tourtellot: Amazon Cruise, March 18, 2016

Journalist, editor and consultant, Jonathan Tourtellot specializes in sustainable tourism and destination stewardship. Formerly a senior editor at National Geographic, Tourtellot also founded and ran National Geographic’s Center for Sustainable Destinations. Tourtellot currently directs the Destination Stewardship Center, working with several international sustainable tourism initiatives.

International Expeditions is donating a point-of-use water treatment system on behalf of every guest traveling on this conservation and community project-focused Amazon journey.

Grant Kemmerer: Galapagos Islands Cruise, May 13, 2016

Grant Kemmerer has been working with wild animals ranging from large carnivores to primates and reptiles for over 25 years. Kemmerer has trained and supplied animals for commercials, television and feature films. In addition he has performed live stage shows for some of the largest events in the country. Grant has been featured on The Meredith Vieira Show, Anderson Cooper Live, The CBS Early Show and Martha Stewart.

Ron Magill: Uganda Safari, June 4, 2016

The Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill has worked hands-on with wildlife for over 30 years. While most recognized from numerous television appearances, Magill has also developed and directed award-winning conservation projects and documentaries focusing on the wildlife of Africa, India and tropical America. In recognition of his wildlife preservation efforts, Magill received the prestigious Wildlife Ambassador Award.

Also hosting Master Leaders Series tours in 2016 are TV personality and animal advocate Joan Embery and Alan Lieberman, a research fellow with the San Diego Zoo.
