Autumn in the Pacific Northwest Offers a Feast for the Senses

Founded in the hills of Arizona in 1996, Canyon Calling Adventures for Women is the expert tour operator offering trips focused on amazing scenery, challenging yet attainable activities, and the enrichment and support of women in the outdoors. With the recent addition of a fall departure date, Canyon Calling is pleased to be offering the Taste of Oregon tour

from October 19th to 24th, 2015.

Guests will meet in Portland, Oregon to begin six days of leisurely adventure and delicious cuisine and wine tastings. October is Canyon Calling’s favorite time to visit the Pacific Northwest, and the Taste of Oregon tour is sure to delight guests with Mother Nature’s brilliant colors and earth’s freshest ingredients. Following an award-winning walking tour of Portland on the first day of the trip, the group will head for the Historic Columbia River Highway – competed in 1915 – on day two for a scenic ten mile bike ride through the Gorge. Throughout the ride, opportunities for short hikes to waterfalls abound as guests spot birds of prey such as osprey and bald eagles. Following an active day, a relaxing drive brings guests to the wild and rugged coast of Oregon and the Inn at Arch Rock in Depoe Bay for a two-night stay.

Day three promises a unique and exciting activity – whale watching! Depoe Bay was specifically chosen for this itinerary, as it has been dubbed the “Whale Watching Capital of the Oregon Coast.” The small group will then travel to the coastal city of Newport – the “Dungeness Crab Capital of the World” – for lunch and to explore the beach, followed by a drive inland to the beautiful little university town of Corvallis for wine tasting on the river.

Day four kicks off with a two-hour hike along Oregon’s rugged coast, viewing coastal wildlife and working up appetites for the next stop – historic downtown McMinnville, located in the Yamhill County wine region of Oregon’s lush Willamette Valley. The region is full of famous wineries’ tasting rooms and a vibrant foodie scene, which the group will explore before checking into The Flats for a two-night stay.

Day five offers a free morning to explore the charming, quaint community of McMinnville, home to turn-of-the-century buildings that have been converted into trendy shops. The next stop is Left Coast Cellars for an unforgettable experience that includes a 3-wine tasting flight poured amidst the vines during this one hour tour of the estate, concluded with a barrel tasting in the winery and followed by a delicious picnic. On the way back to McMinnville, the group may stop at another favorite winery for a tasting before enjoying a farewell dinner at the award winning La Rambla.

Price is $2,295 per person and includes 6 days/5 nights fully guided tour, all guide gratuities, all land transportation, deluxe hotel accommodations, all meals, wine tastings as noted in the itinerary, all activities and excursions, entrance fees and permits. Guests are responsible for transportation to and from Portland.
