Take in the best of Kerala's culture, countryside and wildlife on a four-day cycling tour through the peaceful and enchanting area known as God's Own Country.

SpiceRoads Cycle Tours introduces Discover Kerala by Bicycle, a four-day tour which explores the backwaters and back roads of the southern state of Kerala. This state, on the tropical Malabar Coast, is known for its greenery and wildlife reserves, its tea and spice plantations and exotic cuisine.

“Bicycling in Kerala is a delight: the roads are peaceful, the climate temperate and the landscape exotic with magnificent tea and spice estates to ride through. And if you are a foodie, you will love this tour,” says Struan Robertson, CEO SpiceRoads Cycle Tours.

What to expect

Cycling on mainly paved country roads, this tour starts with a visit to Paniyeli Poru, home to beautiful natural waterfalls and small rivers. Passing aromatic spice farms and shady rubber plantations the tour leads to the historic town of Thoduphuzha dating back to 300 BC, then into the Syrian Christian heartland of Kerala and spends a relaxing time drifting along the picturesque backwaters in an old converted rice barge. Evenings will be spent in beautiful riverside resorts, friendly farm stays and a romantic houseboat, as well as dining on scrumptious food, seasoned of course, by local spices.
