Tokiwa-so is a traditional family-run inn, located in the heart of Dogo Onsen. The original innkeeper was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed sharing some of the freshest local seafood with his guests. The Inn was established in the early 1900’s Taisho era and retains a relaxed atmosphere of that time. Dogo Onsen and Matsuyama also feature predominantly as the setting in the Japanese novel ‘’Botchan’’, a classic by the renowned writer Natsume Soseki. Tokiwa-so inn provides the atmosphere of that era.

The traditional onsen at Tokiwa-so also features natural onsen spring water from a source over 3,000 years old - some of the best in Japan! A soak in the onsen before dinner is a perfect way to relax after a strenuous day on the trail.

We visit Tokiwa-so in our Shikoku self-guided walking 4, 8 and 10 days.
