Portuguese Coastal Way – Section 1: The first section of the Portuguese Coastal Way or Caminho da Costa starts in colourful Porto, in Northern Portugal, where you should take time to taste Port wine and stroll along the UNESCO-listed river front. After exploring Porto, you will head for the popular beach district of Matosinhos to start your Camino. You will walk North along the gorgeous Atlantic Ocean, stopping in charming seaside villages and towns such as Vila do Conde, Póvoa de Varzim and Viana do Castelo. From Caminha, you will take the ferry across the River Minho to A Guarda. You are now in the heart of the Rías Baixas region of Galicia, famous for its Albariño white wine, its superb seafood and gorgeous beaches.
