The day starts on the Quilotoa Loop, where we find some difficult road conditions and road closures, creating delays that force us to take a route that is different from what is planned. Instead of the planned unpaved route, we ride some spectacular paved roads with tremendous vistas to arrive at nightfall in the "Alpine" village of Salinas de Guaranda at elevation 11,800 feet.
